Kerry Simpson began her law career in 1999 as a Deputy County Attorney for Maricopa DSCF0024 County Attorney’s Office in Phoenix, Arizona. She prosecuted felonies for four years prior to moving to Denver, Colorado. Kerry is presently a senior associate attorney with Pickard & Ross, P.C. and has been with the firm since 2005. She practices in the areas of family law, juvenile law, criminal defense, and civil litigation. Kerry is involved in the First Judicial District Bar Association and was a member of the Board of Trustees from 2009 to 2011. She has chaired the First Judicial District Bar Association Membership Committee and Continuing Legal Education Committee. Kerry volunteers with Metro Volunteer Lawyers and with the Family Tree Law Clinic. Kerry regularly participates in “Law Day” clinics where community members come for either lecture-style presentations or one-on-one consultations to discuss legal issues free of charge.

Kerry has presented continuing legal education materials to fellow practitioners on the topics of child therapeutic privilege in the context of dependency and neglect cases, appellate issues in dependency and neglect cases, the impact of collateral legal issues on family law cases, and on Joint Trial Management Certificates. She has presented to the Best Practices Committee, the Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Council, and internationally to the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. She presented in 2013 and again in 2015 at the Family Law Institute and in 2015 to the First Judicial District Bar Association. Kerry has earned various awards including the Linda T. Palmieri Award for Outstanding Service on Behalf of Children in 2010 and the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys Client Satisfaction Award in 2014.
